Caccio commissioned a colorful and festive Valet bench, as well as a selfie stop for patrons who frequently attend pre & after parties for the concert and sports venue located nearby. It was an instant hit with everyone who loves to frequent one of the most beloved Italian restaurants in Tijuana.
Serrano's Street Taco Bar & Grill commissioned multiple murals before hiring me as Creative Director to oversee the large scale renovations for their 10th anniversary pivot. If you'd like to hear more about that role, please check out my Creative Director portfolio!
For this role I supervised the mural renovations, the client requested a blacklight accessible room that looked classy in the day time as well as the night, with a feature of their favorite Mexican flora; bougainvillea flowers. Stunning neon pink bougainvillea trees ran alongside each corner of the wall, framing the live band with their petals. We hid the low hanging duct work with eye catching pink flowers and leaves to create the illusion the band was playing nestled under pink trees. Underneath the canopy held the Mexican cantina couple declaring eternal love to one another, with a hall of Día De Los Muertos candles ushering their patrons towards the bathrooms. This room became an immediate request for reservations each night, filling to max capacity.
These are several street art commissions I've assisted and directed for art events at the Art Park in Chollas Creek and throughout San Diego County. With years of dedicated effort, my partnerships have won multiple awards for our techniques, style, and creative designs. I love using as many colors as the budget permits!!
My favorite community activism - a safety plan to increase rest areas for an active and aging elderly Somalian micro community in San Diego's "City Heights" District with an emphasize on slowing down traffic with vibrant and colorful murals. Over 2000 pedestrians travel in this traffic corridor that's seen many fatalities due to fast moving rush hour traffic. With active input from the older generations for the design concepts and youth volunteers from the community, this 300 ft mural became a living embodiment of Somalian pride and performance art in action.
The American Planning Association awarded us the Urban Design Excellence Award for intentionally uplifting safety and community involvement in our design process. We are now updating the art while still maintaining the community centered designs for 2026.
